Feeling The Heaviness of Global Grief

1–2 minutes

I am feeling it, many of us are feeling it, this shared grief that knows no boundaries. It touches every corner of our world—we feel the impact of floods, fires, hurricanes, war, loss, and the extinction of species. The pain is profound, whether we are witnessing it from afar or living through it ourselves.

Francis Weller speaks to this deep sorrow in his books Entering the Healing Ground and The Wild Edge of Sorrow. He describes the “third gate of grief” as The Sorrows of the World, a place where we collectively “feel the soul of our Earth”.

Let us come together, in love, to hold this world and all the beings upon and within it—the lands, the waters, the animals, and the people. May we offer them our love. May we pray for peace. May we pray for compassion and understanding. And may we rise together, united in our shared humanity.

To heal, we must first acknowledge and embrace our grief. Look around. Feel it. Let us join together to heal it—with love and kindness in our hearts.
