This is a valid question! When should you start thinking about dying? When should you make an end of life plan?
The answer is simple.
If you are an adult of any age, it is both admirable and responsible to make a conscious dying plan.
We do not know when we will die. What we do know is that each and every one of us will die. To prepare for that at any adult stage in life is empowering.
You get to name your preferences for where you will be and who you will be surrounded by. You will take the time to state your spiritual preferences, so they may be carried out. You determine if you would like to be put on life support in extenuating circumstances. You state your wishes about what is done with your body after death.
All of this and more will be put into a formatted conscious dying plan. This plan is malleable, and can be changed by you as you age and/or preferences change. It gives you a groundwork plan for possibly years to come.
As a bonus to those around you that you love and care for……the fact that YOU put this in writing and let them know what YOU want takes immense pressure off of them. Most importantly, it gives you the tools to die a conscious death and therefore live an empowered conscious life.
